Fleeing Dorian

Titusville KOA

August 27th to August 29th

Our original plans were to spend a week or so at the KOA in Titusville and visit Cocoa and the NASA Spacecenter. Unfortunately, Hurricane Dora materialized. Time to go…

Dorian

Hurricane Dorian took an interest in Florida from the very beginning. Living in an RV in Florida, you always pay attention to storms in the Atlantic or gulf. The initial tracks headed for the general vicinity of Florida and as it got closer, it zeroed in on the Melbourne/Cocoa coastal area. We decided to head north out of Florida into Alabama. Since we were going that direction anyway, we decided to make it a trip to Red Bay, Alabama, the home of Tiffin Motorhomes.

Lake Seminole – East Bank

August 3oth to August 31st

East Bank Campground is another facility built and operated by the Army Corps of Engineers. It is located on Lake Seminole at the Florida-Georgia state line. This was our 4th time at a ACOE. We really like their campgrounds. So does everyone else! It was pretty full when we were there.

Deerlick Creek

September 1st

Deerlick Creek Campground near Tuscaloosa, AL is also a Army Corps of Engineers facility. It’s a nice, quiet campground next to Holt Lake. We only spent one night here.

Camp Tiffin (Allegro Campground)

September 2nd to September 5th

Allegro Campground, the mothership, Red Bay; they all mean something to Tiffin owners. Red Bay, Alabama is the home of Tiffin Motorohomes and is where most of them are built. Tiffin actually has manufacturing facilities in several neighboring towns, but this is where it all started. Tiffin also does warranty repairs here. Many other businesses are here as well that do all kinds of repairs, modifications, and upgrades. We came to get a short list of warranty repairs done.

We met a bunch of great Tiffin owners and had a great experience. Greg and Ethan in Bay 35 got all of our issues resolved and we got on the road back to Florida.
